Reflection

Take a look and seat back, reflect on one's past deeds to make a better future.

Let's pray for a more peaceful nation and hope someday poverty will cease to exist.  My utopia.

Obama's promise of change has taken America by storm.  It has touched and moved the hearts of not only the US but also the world.  Some may say he's a dreamer but believing in hope will spring eternal future.  A star-studded video seen in youtube.  "Yes, we can"

Boracay Paradise

Love the art of photography but not an afficionado in the act itself. A terrible , terrible photographer to the point only strangers asked me take their pictures or friends who don't want to include me in the picture itself (heeheehee).

Boracay, Caticlan Philippines although commercialized to a disgrace, the pure shores has its enchanting allure.  I loved my stay there.  Though a bit pricey yet inspiring.

A few photos I've taken that managed to turn out almost decent.

A Pleasure in Dying

The conversation happened to land on choosing which way to die best. A debate goes on what are the up options.  At first thought comes either expiring in your slumber  or instantanious death thru an accident.  However the thought of dying in your sleep might also be torture, being terrified to death is not exactly by definition, a bed of roses.  As for the latter, probably crushed to death in a matter of minutes may also be equivalent to hours of suffering.

But a sure standout to exit this world and go into paradise would be nothing else than to die in exquisite pleasure (no pun intended).

So if you wished some assh*l to die, as someone I know said "Don't ever judge me for being cruel, cause at least i'd hoped that death comes thru feverous delish". Hmmnnn, that kind of generosity makes sense after all, don't you think?  Wink

Sunny Side of Melbourne

Didn't check!  Hours just before my flight to Melbourne, my companion called to inform me to change my luggage into summer clothes. Yup, it was a Sunny Summer of 39 deg Celsius in Down Under.  We were kind of planning to surprise a friend there on our arrival that we failed to check with him about the weather there.  Fortunately last minute calls were made otherwise I'll be in dire need of buying an entire wardrobe during my stay there cause I've only packed winter clothes.

What can I say about Melbourne:
It was a super clean and green city.  The parks are nice and flowers everywhere. Especially the path going to Dandenong Ranges, it was nature's love written on it.
Aussies are nice and polite. Friendly and very hospitable.
Taiwan and Australia time difference is 3 hours (We're 3 hours advance).
Skies remain clear and bright until 8pm.  Sometimes I lost track of time and forgets its already night.
Love Hungry Jacks burgers .  I think it is called Burger King here.  Their burgers are really tasty and juicy.
Peaches, man, they are really sweet and delicious. I would really love to take a crate home but discarded the idea cause Im worried that the customs might confiscate it.
Weather so unpredictable, day time can reach up to 40 deg and nights drops to 20 deg.
Stores close at 6pm.  They close really early and being used to a city with stores opened until 11pm is quite a weird feeling for me.

Overall I can say my stay there is not what I expected.  It was certainly unforgettable.

Thanks to the hospitality of Javier family who tirelessly showed us around during our entire stay.  Hope you guys can drop by Taipei and we'll give you a taste of our stinking tofu.  Tongue out

How do I love thee

By Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.

I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.

I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Doggy Dog World

As I was about to leave the building, to my surprise a huge dog was resting like it is Palm Springs at the bottom of the stairs.  Noticing that it has no collar, increased my fear of jumping over him (he was blocking the exit).  I decided to wait awhile before going out, only to find out later he was still there.  Fortunately he seems to be quite a nice mutt and didn't bit or growl when I passed by. 小狗

What's to talk about

Watching the cartoon movie of "Curious George" makes me reflect on my life.  Maybe some of you are familiar with this story of about a monkey in Africa that ended up in the States and together with Ted they've been into an adventure that has both opened their eyes the explicit wonders of simple moments in life.

This movie has used a song entitled "Talk of the Town"  by Jack Johnson and i fell in love with its acoustic sound and meaning.  It simply foretells that there's so much to talk about by looking at the beauty of nature and our surroundings.  I somehow missed that kind of feeling of just looking at trees and having an inexplainable emotion of content just hearing the rustle of leaves and the smell of fresh leaves.  Just taking time and cherishing each second without a hurry.  Just being a kid and playing around without a care.

When One Goes Choco-Loco

It's kind of weird when for the past few days I've got these cravings for chocolate in any form.  The fact that I consider it uncanny is because I don't have a sweet tooth.  Don't love sweets that much.  I just find them too overpowering for my taste buds.

Maybe this strange reaction might be caused by reading on e of the recent MarketManila's post on Tagbilaran's sikwate (tsokolate tablea). It brought me nostalgic feelings during my childhood when my mom, for our breakfast would cook hot champorado (chocolate rice porridge)  using cacao tablea.  We used to swirl some evaporated milk on top and have our hot pandesal dipped in the heavenly consistency.  Ahhh, that is heavenly and pure bliss.

I'm So Pretty oh so pretty...

Experimenting on different  styles of make-up is a hobby of mine.  There were times when the effect s really di d some wonders but also there were  moments when its a disaster.  Worse was when I thought I look amazing but got disconcerted when my friends saw me and expressed their concerns  (comments such as "Girl, did you get some sleep last night, you look wasted") then I know it is not one of my best looker.  I've learned from my mistakes and now I bother checking myself on natural light whenever I donned a  new look cause believe me, light really does do tricks to one's eyes.

So remember to check out yourself several times , best with natural light when you had your face made up.  You never knew who you might see looking back from the mirror .  A "Heidi Klum" look or a clone of the bride of Frankenstein.

Fun night at the Comedy Binlang

Last July 7, CAPT (Chinese American Professionals in Taiwan ) organized a comedy club night at Cosmopolitan Grill.  Starting with a buffet at 7:00pm and the show opens at 9pm.  It was a great night with 7 performers including Rick Monday of ICRT (who I believe was more funnier in his radio show).  For the most outstanding stand up comic, I guess it is hands down to Sammi Wu, who was the only lady performer with a great sense of attitude. She really knew how to deliver her lines and relate her humor to the audience efficiently.

For the price of NT$450 including buffet, it was well worth it.  Hope they have more to follow.

Total Recall

While studying my next assignment, I can't help but wish to have a photographic memory.  Imagine the time I can save reading 200+ pages of boring and incomprehensible material in just a matter of minutes!  Unfortunately, only a  few considered "lucky" people possesses this ability.  According to Wikipedia, Photographic memory is also known as Eidetic memory coming from the Greek word,  είδος (eidos) which means image or form.  Many famous artists including Monet and Mozart are thought to have this ability.

As much as I would like to learn that ability, I accept I'm a hopeless case. Even faces I forget them easily in a matter of seconds (I'm really face blind).  Except the weird fact that I recall numbers easily, most things are vague to me.  However for some folks who has a similar dilemma as mine, there's another path that you can try in helping you remember.  I try to construct a pattern and putting a sequencial story, as long as I can remember the sequence and pattern, everything would come naturally like clockwork.

For now, I'm still trying to make a story out of the one I'm studying.  Man! It's really hard to stay awake.

Michael Learns to Rockin Taiwan

Michael Learns to Rock was a part of my life during the 90's.  I used to sing along their songs especially the romantic tragedy "25 minutes".  Part of their music style are easy listening of lyrics and ballad songs.  Last Friday, we've managed to get hold of their tickets and I'm actually quite surprised that only about half of the TICC auditorium were filled.  I've always thought that they would be a hit in Taiwan.  Fortunately, we've got to sit several rows closer than what we actually have.  No ushers are controlling the sitting arrangement, maybe because there were a lot of vacant seats in mid section.

The performance overall was not bad.  Although they were not that well in sync with the audience.  Still got to hand it to the lead singer, Jascha  Ritcher, whose refreshing voice are clear and so delectable to one's hearing.  Listening to his crooning reminds me how great a feeling it is to be in love.   He delivered almost, I think 15 songs with seemingly no effort at all but full of heart.  Kare Wanscher, the drummer whose rhythm and energy are  enticing. I really love this guy, the way he hit his drums with his baton, Man he's really cool & gorgeous.  Lastly, Mikkel Lentz of the bass guitarist plucked each string of his guitar with his fingers literally made me hold my breath as he did his solo.

I like their style and hope to hear more from them in the years to come.

Lemonade on a Rainy Day

Got a half kilo of lemons the other day. Lemonade on the weekends seems like a good idea. Got me to thinking of mixing a cocktail which got to delete that from my thoughts cause don't want to spend the Sat & Suns with a hangover (but boy it sure sounds good).  Heniwey, I now am here drinking my perfect concoction while watching Scrubs online.
Life doesn't get any better than this.

Apprentice Dream

Somehow I qualified the final round of the "The Apprentice" reality show.  The qualification rules are kind of different from the actual show.  In order to join this show, one only needs to submit an essay why you're interested in joining.  I qualified but again we are asked to write again some essays and I've lost my interest because I don't like to be a member of Trump's elite staff.  However again, as the time was almost up, I heard from someone that there's a big cash prize.   Suddenly I seemed possessed to write the best thing on earth I've ever written.

Then I woke up.

Backpacking In Europe

I can't find anyone I know who is going to Europe this year.  Apparently, everyone is tied up with work or just isn't interested.

Googled the web and I got this forum about backpackers looking for travel buddies.  Though I'm a little skeptic about this but maybe I can find some people I can go with.

Anyhoo, if things goes smoothly. hope it will happen this year.
